Recent Chinese-Vietnamese wedding filmed and shot in the Virginia-DC area. Had a blast at Sarah and Peter's wedding. They are such a fun and happy couple. They had a banquet reception at one of the most beautiful chinese restaurant located inside a mall. The wedding was highlighted by a spectacular lion dance.

NBA Jam Session 2010 Film

Just came back from Toronto last weekend filming Jam Session for the NBA. This is a short film trailer that we have edited for the NBA showcasing the first ever NBA Jam Session Experience in Canada. It was also very cool to interview and meet with NBA All star Al Horford from the Atlanta Hawks who is actually an extremely nice person in real life.

2010 Toronto Experience

Just got back from the Toronto NACBAIT (North American Chinese Basketbal Assoc. Invitational Tournament) where I filmed and produced a same day edited trailer that was shown at the awards banquet in front of 1200 people. It was such a thrilling experience to play at my first international chinese basketball tournament and also be the official cinematography to document the Toronto experience first hand. There were 80 chinese american basketball teams nationwide from california to philly and including many from the home town of Toronto.
This trailer was shown live at the awards banquet during the tournament over memorial day weekend.

Less than a year ago, we decided that Lightyear Studio was no longer satisfied shooting just a typical wedding video that is generally uninspiring which you often see.

To be honest, we had been doing wedding videography since 2003 and were bored creating the typical documentary-style, 60-90 minute wedding video. It’s always believed that the more of the wedding you put in the final video, the better. Now we realized there was a better way to make a short-form cinematic wedding film that absolutely amazes and touches people like nothing before. The power and creativity of the short-form HD cinematic film is truly awe-inspiring and thus Lightyear Cinema was conceived to present viewers with amazing HD visuals and artistic films.

SOLID SHOT COMPOSITION

So many videos today are too busy with flashy shots and fancy equipment. Yes, we include some of that in our films, but the most important thing is having solid, professional shots

CREATIVE EDITING

One of the most important differences in our HD cinema film is its creative editing. Most videos are edited so they look exactly like the day that they were recorded. Our films go above this and are edited to tell a specific story. We don’t have a cookie cutter style of editing. We spend a great deal of time editing film so that every shot is perfect and the final movie you receive makes you feel like you’re the star of your own show!

ENTERTAINING PRESENTATION

The third key piece to our films is an entertaining presentation. Our editing style is fast paced and fun. It allows us to condense what most videographers would deliver in 2 hours, down to a 5, 10, or 20 minute, highly entertaining movie presentation that is exciting to watch.

How often would you actually watch a 2 hour video of your wedding? Probably once every 5-10 years. Our HD cinema short films are consistently watched by our guests, their family and friends.

So, as of last year, Lightyear Cinema HD started its new brand adjacent to Lightyear Studio to focus on these 3 principles and dedicate ourselves to providing our wedding and corporate clients with the best HD films possible. We worry more about getting the best looking shots and not the flashiest. We spend more time editing to make sure your story is told in the best way possible and looks and sounds better than you remember.
